Fancy Food Show in NYC - Monday

Posted by

The Fancy Food Show in New York City this summer inspired the industry; from culinary professionals to food purveyors, new insights were shared on what's trendy in 2016.

New organic alternatives were definitely among the highlights. In addition to "all health and natural", we saw a bunch of flavored sparkling or still beverages. It's like the trend has gone from juice to wuice. What's funny is that this new made-up word actually exists in the urban dictionary.  "Wuice (also spelled Wüs) is a non-alcoholic drink composed of any type of juice and water". "One common myth about wuice is that it has four times the amount of Vitamin C and half the calories of normal juice"

So juice - or wuice-  is trendy. Seeds and organic grains are also on the list when it comes to the healthier choices. One seed that has been getting more attention lately in general but also now at the show is the Chia Seed. This seed has been praised for its energy boosting power. What makes it a superfood is the massive amount of nutrients delivered with the few calories. The chia seed has become so popular that there's now a Walking Chia Snack:

Ned, VP of Sales and Operations at Parkway Plastics found the purple Chia Squeeze mascot in the food jungle!

The food show featured different vendors from hot sauce to tomato sauce and ice cream to sour cream.

Kensington's were very happy to see Kirstin Kelly, Secretary-Treasurer at Parkway Plastics. Who doesn't LOVE happy customers? We sure do!
