Up to 5 Color
Offset Printing
Our high speed Offset Printing Presses utilize the latest
in printing technology.
In the offset printing process, ink is transferred from the
printing plate onto a rubber blanket and then onto the jar
of your choice. Offset printing is very exact and so it is
ideal for multi color applications. In offset printing, a
plate is needed for each color used in the artwork. Each plate
costs $150.00 and can be used for the life of the product
line (unless non-color changes are made to the artwork).
One of the biggest differences between Offset Printing and
Silk Screen Printing, other than the process itself, is the
type of ink used. Offset Printing Ink is transparent and so
it is perfect for white and other opaque containers, however
this printing method may appear to be "washed out"
on natural or other translucent containers. If you are looking
for bold graphics, and your container is natural or translucent,
we recommend that you take a look at our silk screening options.
Another distinguishing characteristic of offset printing is
that the ink is flush with the printing surface or container.
Prices for minimum runs of 50,000pcs or more can be found
on our price list. Smaller runs often can be done, but are
done on a quotation by quotation basis only.
Up to 5 Color Silk Screening
Screen printing is also widely used by our customers. This
method is popular because it offers a variety of decorating
effects.
A screen is made using the reverse image of the artwork supplied
by the customer from various photographic techniques. The
plain areas (or non decorated areas) in the artwork are blocked
out by on the screen. Ink is then forced through the "open"
areas of the photographically treated screen. Each color is
applied in a separate pass. With each new color, a new screen
(separate pass) is required. Screen charges are $150.00 per
color. Prices for minimum runs of 50,000pcs or more can be
found on our price list. Smaller runs often can be done, but
are done on a quotation by quotation basis only.
Silk screening allows for bold designs with not a lot of detail
as the ink that is used is thicker and more opaque in appearance
than the ink used in Offset Printing. The Silk Screen printing
can also be felt to the touched as the print is noticeable
raised from the surface of the container the same way that
engraving would be.
Flame Treating
All Items Printed by PPI are flame treated where necessary.
Items not printed by PPI may be flame treated at $30.00/m
per pass for sizes up to 58mm, $35.00/m per pass for 63mm
to 89mm, $45.00/m per pass for 100mm to 120mm. Flame Treating
is a TEMPORARY process, Jars should be labeled or Printed
on as soon as possible. Minimum run 50,000pcs or more.
Thick Wall Jar Frosting
Thick Wall Jar Frosting is the practice of making a shiny
plastic container matte in appearance by putting the jar in
contact with a flame. Similar to flame treating, but the jar
is held closer to the flame for a longer period of time so
that the plastic is actually singed. Frosting can be thought
of as a subtractive process, one in which small quantities
of the surface are removed, leaving behind a disrupted plastic
surface. These disruptions cause light that passes through
or reflect off the jar and become diffused. It is this diffusion
which makes the jar look frosty. The downside to this is that
the matte finish can sometimes be uneven in appearance. While
this is negligible on Natural or Transparent jars, this because
much more obvious on opaque jars and is therefore not recommended.
Parkway offers Thick Wall Jar Frosting on items for 40.00/m
from 33mm to 58mm, 60.00/m from 63 through 89mm, and 65.00/m
for 100mm through 120mm. Minimum run 50,000pcs or more.
Decorative Jar Coatings
Parkway Plastics is now please to offer you consistent scratch
and scuff resistant durable coatings that can be applied to
any jar and cap that Parkway sells. Unlike frosting, these
coatings are actually applied to the jar during as a decorating
process. Available coatings include Spray Frost, Soft-Touch
and Translucent and Opaque Tints and are the ultimate in decadence
and high-end luxury. Once the coating is applied to the jar
or cap, the jar and cap can then be decorated using any one
of the methods mentioned above.
Hot Stamping
Hot stamping is the technique of applying a specific colored
foil to the jar or caps surface through the use of heat, pressure
and dies. This is one of the most popular and elegant methods
to achieve a 'shiny' metallic print. Foil is usually gold
or silver but other colors are variable. Hot stamping can
be rolled onto a container, as in the application of 360°
bands or as a straight stamp.
Pad Printing
Parkway Plastics also offers Pad Printing as an efficient
way to decorate caps. Pads receive ink for a print station
and selectively apply color to a particular area, regardless
of the contour. Through the use of several pads in series,
pad printing offers multi color decoration.
Lead Times for all decorated
orders is 4-6 weeks from approval of camera ready artwork
by all parties. Artwork approval is extremely important for
packaging quality and can also be time consuming.
Printing Set Up Charges
will apply on decorated jar orders under 50,000 pieces. The
standard Print Setup Charge at Parkway is $375.
